Oh, fragile thing of wood and string
Melodies resonate from the touch of the metal by the flesh
fragile bowed wood that can be crushed by the banging on the floor by the lead of Arcade Fire
or coaxed to make sound inexplicable
The quick beat of the drum
The piano tickled
Gourd
We sit in the room, myself almost the youngest
I tap my feet, cross my legs, uncross
I hear the sounds of Brazil, of Africa
reminding me of travels taken and untaken
the past and the future
Why do I leave my guitar in the corner
waiting to be played?
This is the worst ode ever

Very passionate
I really like that. It has so much imagery, and I cannot play a guitar a lick and felt like I was doing it wrong by not playing it. Great use of words.
Oh I can be passionate...I'm just not sure it's about the guitar...(Did you like my SNL reference?) though I just finished reading this short story by Yann Martel that I adore! I can't remember the name because it is quite long and has something about a discordant violin. It sort of reminds of "The Silent Gondolier" by LM Morgenstein (is that the right name?). Anyways, Martel does such an amazing job decsribing how music can leave us devastated...I think he talks about agony. like have you ever listened to music that leaves you devasted? The vast arches it created, the swoops, the groans, the sighs. like a cathedral being built all at once and crashing down? Like falling in love and how terrible that truly is?
Man, I'm so melodramatic tonight. I'm so happy to! Facebook is amazing-I just made contact with the man that opened the whole world of hiking and climbing and caving to me (truly-I did some of it half heartedly before) but I think he taught me about community. He created a community centered on the love of the outdoors and camaraderie where all religions (or none) were welcome, all sexualities, but all views were discussed with respect. Wow-I never realized the impact.
he, he, he... arcade fire destroying a beautiful and delicate and very valuable instrument for what? Machismo? aggression?
I have been left devastated by music, it is a wonderful sensation. I love intense music, makes me feel madly alive!
Arcade Fire destroyed their guitars on SNL...disapointing....love NEON BIBLE
